Instead of using water to weave the fibers, they are processed and bonded using a powerful airflow (hence the name Air-laid) and eco-friendly binders. This specialized manufacturing process gives the placemat an incredibly fabric-like texture, making it soft to the touch, ultra-absorbent, and highly durable even when wet.
